DailySpin had the pleasure of speaking with Lars Kollind, our Head of Business Development, to delve into our key strategies, game development process, and what the future holds for us. Known for our diverse portfolio and captivating features and themes, we have consistently been a favorite on the DailySpin ‘slot gratis’ section. Let’s begin!
Could you provide some background on Swintt and share what the experience of working there is like?
Sure. Swintt is the flagship B2B arm of Glitnor Group and is a studio that primarily specializes in slots. Founded in 2019, Swintt swiftly carved out a reputation for being one of the industry’s hottest up-and-coming software developers, but has since grown into a multi award-winning brand that’s now certified in over ten regulated markets with many more still to come. I remember that right from the beginning, I was bugging then-CEO David Flynn to find me a position in the company as I really thought my expertise could help take it to the next level. That finally happened in 2022 and I have to say it’s been a great ride – it’s a fantastic place to work that’s full of very talented people.
Could you walk us through the process of creating a new slot game, from the initial concept to the final product?
Most of our slots start from an initial brainstorming session where we place a real emphasis on what the rest of the market is doing. Our goal is always to analyze what’s proving popular with players and try to incorporate any emerging trends into our product, while at the same time doing what we can to ensure that we offer something unique. Of course, entertainment is always our #1 priority, so we try to stay creative with our themes and features, but we also take on feedback from customers and clients to determine what’s likely to work in each country that we operate in.
With so many well-known and smaller operators offering your games, how do you ensure they stay engaged and up-to-date with your latest releases?
I really think client management is one of our strongest suits at Swintt. From my background in sales and business development, I really appreciate the importance of these relationships and all of our people work really hard to ensure each of our partners remains up-to-date with everything that we’re doing long after their initial deal has been signed. We do this in some of the usual ways like having regular PRs that our go out to clients and meeting up with people at conferences, but also in some unusual ones too like sending copies of our Swinttopia boardgame out to companies!
I understand that your primary focus is on operating in regulated markets, which is something we strongly support as well. Given that regulations can vary significantly from market to market, do you feel that regulators are generally doing a good job, or is there room for improvement?
It’s always a tough ask for regulators as they have to balance the need for having adequate player protection with creating an environment where providers like us can develop and promote their games without being hampered by overly officious rules. At the end of the day, we all want the same thing – which is to have a safe and sustainable online gaming space where players are free to choose how and when they play – but I do think there could be a more open dialogue between operators, providers and regulators to help that happen. If there’s not, ultimately you just end up pushing players to black market sites where there are fewer restrictions, and no one wants that.
Responsible Gaming is clearly a top priority for everyone in the iGaming industry. How does Swintt address and promote responsible gaming practices?
As I touched on in one of my previous answers, entertainment is always the main priority for Swintt. It’s a message that we communicate both internally and externally in the way we position our brand, so we always promote the fun aspect of our games instead of encouraging anyone to gamble more than they’re comfortable with. Obviously we take into account all local responsible gaming practices when developing our titles and we also ensure that all the communications we put out contain the necessary information and phone numbers for anti-problem gambling charities.
Which games have performed best across all your markets and do you have a personal favorite?
Believe it or not, my answer to both of these questions is actually one and the same! Our popular XtraSeries slot, Aloha Spirit XtraLockTM, remains our most successful release to date and it’s also a firm favorite of mine due to its exciting bonus round and top prize of 200,500x. That said, in markets like Germany and the Netherlands where players tend to favor a more “traditional” slot experience, several titles in our SwinttPremium range have performed particularly well – most notably Seven Seven Pots and Pearls with its four local jackpots and rewarding re-spins feature.
Is there any exciting news about Swintt’s future that you can share with us and that we should keep an eye on?
It’s been another successful year for Swintt and we’re certainly not intending to let that positive momentum stop anytime soon! As such, we’ll definitely be maintaining our batting average of launching three to four new titles per month and I’d advise anyone who’s interested to keep an eye on our Elysium Studios – Driven by Swintt line-up, as we have some really innovative releases coming up there in particular. Beyond that, we have plans to enter new markets including Bulgaria and Italy and we’ll also look to increase the number of developers in our SwinttStudios program.
